We are an electric scooter accessories company focused on enhancing the electric scooter experience. Zoom Urban Gear stands tall as a trailblazer in the industry as we solve many problems riders experience that have never been addressed before. We are so excited to have you along for the ride! 

As a new business in the industry, it might be wise to introduce ourselves, our products, and what you can expect from us in the future. 

Our company started with a chance encounter with electric scooters on a trip to Finland in 2021 and has evolved into a passionate commitment to participating in the revolution of urban transportation. 

Where We Began - Why Electric Scooter Accessories Are Our Passion

It all started with a tourist's adventure through Turku, Finland. Due to the city’s infrastructure, electric scooters became the best option for exploring the city and offering convenient transportation between destinations. For this tourist, this experience sparked the beginning of a passion for electric scooters. Almost immediately upon returning to sunny Florida, he purchased an electric scooter of his own.

The idea of transporting the scooter and exploring Florida's extensive paved bike trails led to an Amazon search for protective gear and additional accessories. However, the market lacked options designed specifically for e-scooters, even for one of the most common brands. 

The majority of a scooter rider's problems had not been solved! This void ignited the spark that led to the birth of Zoom Urban Gear.

As an innovative professional with a long history in marketing data science, Charlie Hammerslough, the tourist in question and the company's founder, decided to leap. He saw e-scooters as the future of transportation and wanted to participate in the action. In the Fall of 2022, Zoom Urban Gear was born.

Where Are We Now

A lot has happened since that fateful trip in Finland. For almost 2 years, the team at Zoom Urban Gear has worked tirelessly to innovate, build, and establish the brand and its products.

We have patents pending for various e-scooter accessories in development  Our flagship product, The Meerkat Electric Scooter Stand and Accessory Hub, was launched at Micromobility America in October 2023 and has since been touring expos across the country. (psst, come check us out at Electrify Expo in Long Beach!)

Additionally, we have a whole line of other products either in development or ready for purchase. We are committed to building a community of electric scooter enthusiasts where riders can find top-notch accessories, valuable information, and insights. Some of our current products include:

• Accessories for the home, like our Decorative Scooter Clock
• Custom designed Rider’s Gloves, available in both full finger and fingerless styles
• Stickers! 
• The Meerkat, our vertical stand made to simplify your e-scooter experience, which is expected to ship summer 2024

As our company moves forward, we look forward to continuing to innovate with both e-scooterists and the environment in mind. Sustainability is at the forefront of our efforts as we seek to reduce our carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly transportation solutions.  As Charlie recently stated in an interview,  “Deep down, sustainability is one of my strongest motivations for starting Zoom Urban Gear.  Our mission is to help promote sustainable personal transportation, electric scooters in particular.  Using less energy is clearly better for the environment and the Earth because transportation is a major source of non-sustainable greenhouse emissions… Besides, on an electric scooter you are out in the open air, enjoying the environment and immersed in the experience; in a car, you are isolated from both nature and other people in a metal box.  Electric power may be sustainably created (via solar or hydro power, for example), but fossil fuels are gone forever once burned”.

Where Are We Going

The electric scooter industry is constantly evolving, and Zoom Urban Gear plans to be at the forefront of innovation. Our focus remains on solving real problems for scooter riders, and our products are designed by scooter enthusiasts, for scooter enthusiasts. We meticulously consider scooter riders' challenges to ensure that our offerings provide practical solutions.

As we shared above, we have a variety of products in development. We go through rounds of prototypes and testing to ensure that they are practical, stylish, and high quality. The scooter hub, our flagship product, will see a launch in 2024. As time passes, you can expect to see even more innovative accessories, informative resources, and community-building initiatives on our website. 

Our vision is to play a pivotal role in promoting electric scooters as a viable and sustainable mode of urban transportation. With that in mind, we plan on being here as an expert in the industry. We will strive to educate riders on safety, provide travel tips, and keep our tribe informed on the latest news in the scooter world. 

The ScooterTribe and Beyond

As Zoom Urban Gear continues to grow, we are excited to cultivate a vibrant ScooterTribe. The tribe will be an inclusive program that provides riders early access to products, super sweet discounts, and more. Who knows? Maybe the Scooter Tribe will become a community for riders nationwide to connect in person!
